The Energy Security Conference

The Euro-Atlantic Integration Center in Dnipropetrovs'k held international conference "The Energy Security in modern conditions: the search for adequate responses to challenges of the time" on December, 9, 2009.

 The conference took place at the conference hall in business center "Balance Business Books" on December, 9, 2009 at the address: 4 Serova st., (4 floor), Dnipropetrovs’k, Ukraine.

 The aim of the conference was a modern definition of risk in ensuring European energy security as a whole and individual states, including Ukraine, the determination of the principles and approaches to solving problems of energy security to guarantee the security of supply and receiving energy, equity pricing and tariffs, transparency, understandability of relationship in the field of energy supply and transit. An indicative list of issues was proposed to discuss during the conference:

 - spreading European principles of energy security in the Eastern European space;

 - ways of creating a system of guarantees of reliability, stability and continuity of energy supplies;

 - principles of peaceful settlement of a conflict between suppliers, transit-country and consumers;

 - problems of integration of energy markets;

 - problem of diversification of energy supplies including nuclear fuel;

 - infrastructure supply and transit of energy use and storage;

 - implementation of technical standards for nuclear and environmental safety.

 Participants of the Conference were representatives of European Union, NATO, International Energy Agency, diplomatic establishments, National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine, central and local authorities, scientific institutes, and analytical centers.
