Joining NATO presupposes following of some obligatory procedures, which do not require holding of the national Country-Candidate referendum. Among the last ten countries which joined NATO, only three countries (Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia) submitted the alliance membership issue to the national referendum. Besides, current Ukrainian legislation does not presuppose the referendum holding on joining NATO.
